Hajar Skills Acquisition Empowers 223 Women, Female Students in Sokoto

Hajar Skills Acquisition, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Hajar Multipurpose Enterprises, has successfully concluded the second edition of its Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme, equipping 223 participants with practical entrepreneurial skills aimed at promoting self-reliance and economic empowerment.
The one-day training, brought together 200 SS3 female students from HABMASS, GGDSS Runjin Sambo, GGSS Yar-Akija, and Darul Hadith School, alongside 23 women interested in becoming financially independent through entrepreneurship.
Participants received practical training on the production of air fresheners, a skill selected for its market relevance during the rainy season, when demand for air fresheners typically increases due to damp conditions and unpleasant odours.
Speaking the founder of the initiative Hajaru Yushau Jibril said the choice was intended to provide participants with an affordable business opportunity they could begin immediately.
She therefore reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to skills acquisition and entrepreneurship training, noting that Hajar Skills Acquisition will now hold two major training programmes annually.
The next edition is scheduled to take place before the end of December 2026 and is expected to accommodate more secondary schools and members of the public.
The programme also featured educational sessions delivered by experts. Dr. Amina Abdullahi of the Department of Business Administration, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS), presented a lecture titled Life After Graduation, encouraging participants to pursue higher education, develop entrepreneurial skills, and make informed career decisions.
Also speaking, Malama Habibah Muhammad of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) delivered a lecture on Taking Care of Yourself from an Islamic Perspective After Graduation, highlighting the importance of good character, discipline, faith, and responsibility in achieving success.
At the end of the programme, participants received Certificates of Participation, educational materials, and branded souvenirs.
