‘Seeing Is Believing’: Abuja–Kaduna Highway Reconstruction Reaches 85% Completion

The ongoing reconstruction of the Abuja–Kaduna Highway has reached approximately 85 percent completion, according to officials overseeing the project.

The update was given during the ongoing ‘Seeing Is Believing’ (Gani Ya Kori Ji) media tour of major Federal Government projects across Northern Nigeria. The team of journalists, led by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, inspected the highway after visiting the Kaduna Western Bypass and the Green Ville CNG Station in Kaduna State.

Project officials briefed the delegation on the progress of the work, explaining that about 85 percent of the reconstruction has been completed. The journalists expressed satisfaction with both the pace and quality of work on one of Nigeria’s most strategic transport corridors.

The Abuja–Kaduna Highway serves as a vital link between the Federal Capital Territory and the northern states, facilitating the movement of people, goods and commercial activities. Officials said that upon completion, the upgraded road is expected to significantly reduce travel time, ease traffic congestion, improve road safety and stimulate economic activities along the corridor.

They also disclosed that the highway is being reconstructed using reinforced concrete pavement instead of conventional asphalt, a design aimed at improving durability, reducing maintenance requirements and extending the lifespan of the road.

According to the officials, the project is one of the flagship infrastructure initiatives being implemented under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to modernise Nigeria’s transport infrastructure and strengthen connectivity across the country.

Speaking after the inspection, Malam Abdulaziz Abdulaziz described the Abuja–Kaduna Highway as one of Nigeria’s most important transport routes, noting that the Federal Government has prioritised its reconstruction because of its strategic economic and national importance.

He added that the ‘Seeing Is Believing’ media tour is designed to give journalists firsthand access to government projects, enabling them to report accurately and provide Nigerians with verified information on the progress of infrastructure development.

The media delegation commended the Federal Government and the Federal Ministry of Works for the significant progress recorded on the project, expressing optimism that its completion will improve transportation, enhance security and benefit millions of Nigerians who depend on the Abuja–Kaduna corridor.
