BREAKING: ADC Names Amaechi as Atiku’s Running Mate for 2027 Presidential Election

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as its vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The party made the announcement in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, following consultations with party leaders, coalition partners, youth and women stakeholders, and representatives from across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.

According to the ADC, Amaechi’s selection followed the successful conclusion of the party’s presidential primaries, where he emerged as the runner-up and garnered significant support from delegates nationwide.

The party described the proposed Atiku Abubakar–Rotimi Amaechi ticket as a strategic partnership aimed at addressing Nigeria’s economic, security, and governance challenges.

Highlighting Amaechi’s political career, the ADC noted that he served as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Governor of Rivers State for two terms, and later Minister of Transportation, where he oversaw major rail and transport infrastructure projects.

The party said Amaechi’s extensive experience in both the legislative and executive arms of government would be an asset to a future ADC administration.

The statement further emphasized that Amaechi’s political influence across Southern Nigeria, particularly the South-South region, as well as his reputation as a reform-minded administrator, would strengthen the party’s electoral prospects.

According to the ADC, the Atiku-Amaechi ticket represents a national coalition capable of bridging regional and political divides while offering Nigerians an alternative leadership platform focused on economic recovery, job creation, security, and national unity.

The party called on its members, coalition partners, civil society groups, youth organizations, women leaders, and other Nigerians to support its campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
