Sultan Receives Kano Delegation on Condolence Visit Over Sardaunan Sokoto

A delegation from the Kano State Government has paid a condolence visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sokoto State Government and the family of the late Sardaunan Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, following his death.
The delegation, sent on behalf of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, was led by the Deputy Governor, Murtala Garo. Other members included the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ibrahim, the Emir of Rano, Muhammad Umar, the Kano APC Chairman, Umar Doguwa, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Aisha Saji, and other senior government officials.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, the delegation first visited the residence of the late elder statesman, where they conveyed Governor Yusuf’s condolences to the bereaved family.
Responding on behalf of the family, the deceased’s eldest son, Aminu Abubakar, thanked the Kano governor for the show of compassion and solidarity during their time of grief.
The delegation later visited the palace of the Sultan of Sokoto to formally deliver the governor’s condolence message.
The Sultan expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a reflection of the long-standing bond and unity among the people of Northern Nigeria.
“We appreciate Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for this thoughtful gesture. It reflects the unity and enduring brotherhood that bind the people of Northern Nigeria together” the Sultan said.
The delegation also proceeded to the Sokoto State Government House, where they were received by the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State and the Secretary to the State Government. They conveyed Governor Yusuf’s condolences to the government and people of Sokoto State over the passing of the prominent traditional titleholder.
In his condolence message, Governor Yusuf described the late Sardaunan Sokoto as a revered elder statesman whose contributions to the Sultanate and the development of Northern Nigeria would remain a lasting legacy.
He prayed for Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family, the Sultanate Council and the people of Sokoto State the strength to bear the loss.
