The House of Representatives has officially completed the composition of its minority leadership team with the emergence of Hon. Abdussamad Dasuki, representing Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency of Sokoto State, as the Deputy Minority Leader of the 10th House of Representatives.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, announced the new minority principal officers during Thursday’s plenary after receiving a communication from members of the minority caucus, who reached a consensus on the appointments in line with the House Standing Orders.

Hon. Fred Agbedi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bayelsa State, was named Minority Leader, while Hon. Manu Soro of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Bauchi State, emerged as Minority Whip.

The appointment of Hon. Abdussamad Dasuki, a ranking lawmaker from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), as Deputy Minority Leader marks a milestone for Sokoto State and the Northwest region. His emergence reflects the confidence reposed in his legislative experience, leadership capacity, and contributions to parliamentary affairs.

Speaking after announcing the appointments, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen congratulated the newly appointed principal officers and expressed confidence in their ability to strengthen the work of the House and advance the legislative agenda of the 10th Assembly.

The development comes after days of consultations and deliberations among opposition lawmakers over the composition of the minority leadership. The consensus reached by the caucus eventually paved the way for the successful nomination and endorsement of the new leaders.
