Former Senator representing Sokoto East, Senator Abubakar Umar Gada, has denied participating in any governorship primary election purportedly conducted by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State.

In a statement titled “Disclaimer and Refutation of Lies” Senator Gada described reports linking him to the alleged primary as false, misleading and a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation.

The former lawmaker accused a group led by Hon. Bello Goranyo of falsely claiming legitimacy within the PDP structure in the state, insisting that the group had long been dissolved and replaced by a recognized caretaker committee.

According to Gada, he had no involvement whatsoever in the exercise allegedly organized by the faction, stressing that the group lacked both legitimacy and legal standing to conduct party affairs.

He further alleged that members of the faction had been abandoned by their former political allies and were resorting to what he described as misinformation and mischief to remain politically relevant.

Gada maintained that the faction had no authority to speak on behalf of the PDP in Sokoto State and urged party members and the general public to disregard any claims suggesting his participation in the purported governorship primary.

He also warned against further attempts to associate his name with activities of the group, insisting that such actions were aimed at damaging his image and political standing.

The former senator reiterated his commitment to lawful political processes and called on PDP supporters across the state to ignore what he termed fabricated reports regarding his involvement in the disputed primary election.
