Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election scheduled for Monday, and amid growing internal opposition within the party, Senator Garba Musa Maidoki has resigned his membership of the APC.

Maidoki, who represents Kebbi South Senatorial District, announced his resignation in a letter dated May 14, 2026, and addressed to the APC Ward Chairman in Rafin Zuru Ward, Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
In the letter, the lawmaker cited lingering internal crises within the party as the reason for his decision, noting that the situation had made his political aspirations increasingly difficult.
“I am writing to inform you of the withdrawal of my membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rafin Zuru Ward,” the letter read.
“My decision is based on the lingering internal crises of the APC that has made my political aspirations a source of concern.”The senator expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunity to serve under its platform.
Maidoki currently serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Legislative Compliance and Vice Chairman of the Committee on Information and National Orientation.
His resignation is coming at a critical time as the APC prepares for its senatorial primaries, raising concerns over possible realignments within the party in Kebbi State.
