INEC Updates Records, Recognises David Mark as ADC Leader After Supreme Court Ruling

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially updated its records to reflect the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) under former Senate President, David Mark, in compliance with the Supreme Court’s judgment.

A review of the commission’s website on Thursday confirmed that INEC has effected the changes, aligning with the apex court’s decision which set aside an earlier directive that mandated the party to maintain the status quo amid its internal leadership crisis.

The move marks a decisive legal and political victory for the faction loyal to Mark, which had contested attempts to restructure the party’s leadership through the courts.

Previously, the Supreme Court nullified the order that restrained recognition of the party’s leadership, thereby removing all legal obstacles and paving the way for INEC to formally acknowledge the executives backed by Mark.
