ADC Insists on Congresses Despite INEC Dispute

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that it will proceed with its scheduled congresses nationwide, despite what it described as “illegal actions” by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a public notice issued by its National Headquarters in Abuja, the party stated that it had duly notified INEC of its plans through letters dated February 27 and March 28, 2026.

The ADC outlined a detailed timetable for its internal electoral activities, beginning with the screening of aspirants on April 7, followed by appeals on April 8. Polling unit, ward, and local government congresses are slated for April 9, while appeals on those congresses will hold on April 10.

State congresses are scheduled for April 11, with appeals fixed for April 12. The process will culminate in a national convention on April 14, 2026.

The notice was jointly signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Prince Chinedu Idigo, and National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.

The development comes amid ongoing tensions between the party and INEC over recognition and compliance issues, raising concerns about the legitimacy and oversight of the planned congresses.
