Bandits Kill Two, Kidnap 11 in Sokoto Community
Suspected bandits have reportedly killed two residents and abducted 11 others during a late-night raid on Malamawar Yari village in Kware Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The attack, which occurred at about 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday, left the community in panic as gunmen stormed the village, firing shots and forcing residents to flee for safety.
Those abducted include eight women, three men, and a child. According to sources, seven of the victims are from the same family, while two women were taken from different households.
The deceased victims were identified as Abubakar Buntu and Abubakar Bello. Two other residents sustained gunshot injuries one in the hand and the other in the legand are currently receiving treatment.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers entered the village through a route connected to Rabah Local Government Area, shooting sporadically before carrying out the abductions.
Residents blamed the recurring attacks on poor security presence in the area, noting that the village is easily accessible through a nearby forest route often used by the assailants.
They also recalled that a similar attack occurred less than a month ago, resulting in casualties and abductions.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufai, said details remain sketchy, adding that he is awaiting further information from the Divisional Police Officer in Kware.
