Zamfara Govt Inaugurates Panel to Probe Suspended Polytechnic Rector

The Zamfara State Government has inaugurated an eight-member fact-finding panel to investigate allegations of gross administrative misconduct and insubordination against the suspended Rector of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Dr. Sirajo Abdullahi Shinkafi.

The panel was inaugurated on Monday in Gusau by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, and is chaired by former Head of Service, Mujtaba Isah.

Speaking during the inauguration, the SSG charged the committee to carry out its assignment with fairness and objectivity, stressing that its responsibility is to establish facts rather than presume any party guilty or innocent.

“Your responsibility is not to presume guilt or innocence, but to establish the facts objectively,” Nakwada said, urging the panel to accord all parties a fair hearing, examine relevant evidence, and submit recommendations that are impartial, well-reasoned, and consistent with the law and principles of good governance.

He added that the state government expects the panel to identify institutional gaps and recommend practical measures to strengthen governance, discipline, accountability, and administrative efficiency within the Polytechnic and other state-owned tertiary institutions.

The SSG also directed all individuals and institutions connected to the investigation to cooperate fully with the panel by providing all necessary information required for the successful completion of its assignment.

Responding on behalf of the committee, Chairman Mujtaba Isah thanked Dauda Lawal for the confidence reposed in the panel and assured that members would discharge their duties with fairness and integrity.

“We are mindful that this assignment requires experience and moral rectitude, given that it involves the head of a critical institution. We will therefore tread carefully and ensure that whatever decision we take will be in the best interest of the state,” he said.

He further pledged that the committee would be just, fair, and leave no stone unturned in uncovering the facts surrounding the allegations against the suspended rector.
