Zamfara @30: Lawal Commissions Projects, Says Rescue Mission Delivering Results
Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has declared that his administration’s “rescue mission” is transforming the state through infrastructure development, institutional reforms and investments in critical sectors.
Lawal made the declaration during activities marking the 30th anniversary of the creation of Zamfara State, which began on Thursday with a series of events and project commissioning.

The anniversary celebrations and commissioning ceremonies were attended by the pioneer Military Administrator of Zamfara State, Col. Jibril Bala Yakubu (rtd.), former governors Ahmed Sani Yarima and Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi, as well as other dignitaries.
Speaking at the National Independence Day parade and Zamfara’s 30th anniversary celebration at the Trade Fair Complex in Gusau, the governor said the state had moved towards an era of “clear execution, transparency, and sustainable development.”
Lawal said the anniversary provided an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of Nigeria’s founding fathers and the responsibilities of citizens in sustaining the country’s unity and development.

“As we look forward to the next decade, we must understand that true independence demands collective responsibility. Government alone can’t do this,” he said.
The governor called on traditional rulers, religious scholars, civil servants, traders and youths to work together to promote peace and development, urging citizens to set aside ethnic, political and sectarian divisions.
On Friday, Lawal commissioned Phase III of the renovated and modernised J.B. Yakubu Secretariat in Gusau as part of efforts to strengthen government institutions and create what he described as a modern, efficient and technology-enabled public service.
The Secretariat houses several Ministries, Departments and Agencies responsible for various aspects of governance and service delivery in the state.
According to the governor, the modernisation of the complex would improve coordination among government agencies, strengthen communication and institutional collaboration, and facilitate faster implementation of government decisions.
Lawal also acknowledged the presence of Col. Jibril Bala Yakubu, the pioneer Military Administrator of the state, describing his attendance as significant as Zamfara marked three decades since its creation.
Earlier, Yakubu commended the governor’s administration for what he described as significant achievements, particularly in infrastructure, education and healthcare.
Also on Friday, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, CFR, mni, commissioned the reconstructed and remodelled Jumu’at Mosque, popularly known as Yardole, alongside its attached shopping complex.
The mosque, named after Malam Sambo Dan Ashafa, an Islamic scholar associated with the Sokoto Jihad, is also expected to serve as an Islamic and research learning centre.
The projects formed part of activities marking Zamfara State’s 30th anniversary and Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.
