Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recovered a large herd of cattle reportedly rustled by terrorists following an encounter with the suspects in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The troops were said to have acted on credible intelligence concerning the movement of terrorists who were fleeing Asarara Kaura community with the livestock.

They intercepted the suspects along the Tambuwal-Gadaichi-Gummi axis, where the terrorists reportedly engaged the troops in a gun battle before retreating into the surrounding bushes with gunshot wounds.

The fleeing terrorists abandoned the cattle, which were subsequently recovered by the troops and taken into military custody.

The livestock will be subjected to verification before being returned to their rightful owners.

The recovery is expected to provide relief to residents whose cattle were allegedly stolen and underscores ongoing military efforts to tackle livestock rustling and other criminal activities across parts of Sokoto State.
