Tinubu Mourns Victims of Sokoto Boat Accident, Directs Safety Measures

President Bola Tinubu has expressed sadness over the boat accident in Gorau community, Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State, which reportedly claimed several lives and left others missing.
The President described the incident as a painful tragedy and extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, as well as the government and people of Sokoto State.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said he was deeply saddened by the news and prayed for strength for the bereaved families to cope with the loss.
He also prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased and the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident.
The President commended emergency responders and local authorities for their efforts in rescuing survivors and recovering victims following the incident.
Tinubu directed relevant federal agencies, including the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), to collaborate with the Sokoto State Government to strengthen safety measures on the state’s waterways.
He further called for strict enforcement of safety standards to prevent similar accidents from occurring in the future.
The President assured the people of Sokoto State of the Federal Government’s support as rescue and recovery operations continue.
