States Better Funded Under Tinubu, Says Sokoto Governor Aliyu

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has said state governments are now receiving improved funding from the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, enabling them to implement more development projects and social intervention programmes.
Governor Aliyu stated this on Wednesday in Bodinga Local Government Area of the state during the flag-off of the subsidised sale of food items introduced by his administration to make essential commodities more affordable for rural residents and junior civil servants.
The governor attributed the state’s ongoing development projects, palliative programmes and regular payment of workers’ salaries to the increased federal allocations being received by state governments.
He said the improved funding had enabled his administration to sustain the sale of food items at subsidised prices and pay salaries on the 18th of every month.
Aliyu urged residents of Sokoto State to disregard what he described as campaigns of calumny against President Tinubu and support his re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election.
He praised the President’s economic policies, describing them as “one of the best things to have happened to Nigeria,” while assuring Tinubu of the Sokoto State Government’s total support for his re-election.
On insecurity, the governor said his administration had continued to support security agencies with logistics and equipment to strengthen the fight against banditry.
He disclosed that the state government recently provided 62 armoured vehicles, in addition to more than 200 patrol vehicles and 2,000 motorcycles previously donated to security agencies.
The governor, however, called on residents to provide security agencies with useful information and expose informants allegedly assisting bandits by supplying information about developments in rural communities.
He also appealed to the people to continue praying for an end to insecurity in Sokoto State and Nigeria.
The governor spoke during the flag-off of the subsidised food sale, an initiative aimed at cushioning the effects of economic hardship on vulnerable residents across the state.
