The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has warned intending pilgrims against using agents or intermediaries to register for the 2027 Hajj, urging them to deal directly with the agency or its approved registration centres.

The agency’s Chairman, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, gave the warning during a meeting on preparations for the pilgrimage and compliance with registration procedures.

Musa said intending pilgrims must personally complete their registration through approved channels to safeguard their applications and payments.

He directed applicants to make payments only into the official accounts of the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, stressing that cash payments would not be accepted.

He also advised pilgrims to collect and retain official receipts for every transaction.

The agency has fixed the initial deposit for each intending pilgrim at N7,696,769.67, pending the approval of the final Hajj fare by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

Musa urged prospective pilgrims to register early ahead of the September 26, 2026 deadline set by NAHCON, warning that the agency would not accept registrations after the stipulated date.

Registration is being conducted at the agency’s headquarters in Sokoto and designated Local Government Hajj registration centres.

Applicants are required to present a valid international passport with validity extending to at least October 2027, a photocopy of their NIN slip, four recent coloured passport photographs and other required guarantor documents.

The chairman advised intending pilgrims to obtain information directly from the agency or its approved registration centres and to avoid relying on unofficial sources.

He added that the agency would continue to collaborate with NAHCON and other relevant authorities to ensure transparent and efficient preparations for the 2027 Hajj.
