Sokoto Police Inspector Dies After Weekly Fitness Walk

A police inspector attached to the Sokoto State Police Command, Adamu Isah, has died after collapsing shortly after taking part in the command’s weekly fitness exercise.

Isah, who was attached to the Department of Operations, reportedly collapsed at the command headquarters on Wednesday after returning from the exercise.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Thursday.

Rufa’i said the inspector was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment, but was later pronounced dead by medical personnel.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Shaffa, described Isah’s death as a painful loss to the command.

Shaffa said the deceased was a committed officer who served with professionalism and dedication, adding that he made valuable contributions to the command’s operations.

According to the commissioner, Isah was also actively involved in sports and represented the police command on its volleyball team. He was equally involved in boxing.

“His energy, discipline, and team spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him” Shaffa said.

The commissioner extended his condolences to the deceased officer’s family and assured them of the command’s support during the period of mourning.

He urged personnel of the command to remain dedicated to their responsibilities and honour the memory of their late colleague through continued service.

Shaffa prayed for God to grant the deceased eternal rest and give his family the strength to bear the loss.
