The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State on Saturday ratified and inaugurated its newly elected state executive members during a ceremony held at the party’ s secretariat in Sokoto.
The factional party loyal to Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed leadership’s event attracted hundreds of party supporters, stakeholders and party leaders from across the state.
Speaking at the occasion, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Alhaji Kalgo, described the congress as transparent, free and fair, stressing that there was no favoritism or imposition throughout the exercise.
According to him every delegate was given a level playing field to participate in the process, adding that the newly elected executives should embrace an open door leadership style and avoid policies that could create division within the party.
In his welcome address, the PDP’s 2023 Sokoto South Senatorial candidate, Hon. Dahiru Yusuf Yabo, commended the party’s National Organising Secretary, Hon. Umar Bature, for what he described as exceptional leadership that contributed to the successful emergence of the new executives.
Also speaking, the PDP Governorship Candidate in Sokoto State, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi praised party members for their orderly conduct during the congress and commended the outgoing executives for their commitment and service to the party.
He urged the newly inaugurated officials to remain dedicated to their responsibilities and work towards ensuring victory for the PDP at all levels in future elections.
The governorship candidate also took a swipe at the ADC, describing it as the “All Disqualified Candidates” party, while dismissing the Turaki-led executives as an unrecognized leadership.

Leader of the party in the state and National Organising Secretary, Hon. Umar Bature, assured party faithful that the PDP would be repositioned to attract more support and secure electoral victories.
He reminded members that political power ultimately belongs to God and urged the new leadership to be fair, just and inclusive in dealing with all party members.
