Sokoto Govt to Renovate, Remodel Gagi Jumu’at Mosque

The Sokoto State Government has announced plans to comprehensively renovate and remodel the Gagi Jumu’at Mosque in Sokoto metropolis as part of efforts today to improve Islamic infrastructure and provide befitting places of worship for Muslims across the state.
The Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Prof. Jabir Sani Maihulla, disclosed this shortly after the Jumu’at prayer at the mosque, which was attended by Governor Ahmed Aliyu and former Governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
Maihulla said the planned intervention reflects the administration’s commitment to upgrading major worship centres and ensuring that worshippers have access to comfortable and conducive facilities.
According to him, the project will cover the renovation and remodelling of the mosque’s facilities, while improving its appearance, functionality and convenience for worshippers.
The Jumu’at prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Gagi Jumu’at Mosque, Imam Muhammad Sayyadi Ibrahim, who used his sermon to urge Muslims to strengthen their faith, remain steadfast in worship and prepare for the Hereafter through righteous deeds.
The Chief Imam called on Muslims to observe the five daily prayers, uphold Islamic teachings, engage in sincere repentance, supplication and charity, and maintain good relations and exemplary conduct towards one another.
He also prayed for lasting peace, security, unity and prosperity in Sokoto State and Nigeria.
The prayer was attended by the Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Tukur Bala Bodinga; the Secretary to the State Government; commissioners; senior government officials and other Muslim faithful.
The planned Gagi Jumu’at Mosque project forms part of the Sokoto State Government’s broader programme to renovate, remodel and construct Jumu’at mosques across the state.
