Sokoto Police Commissioner Seeks Assembly Support to Tackle Insecurity

The Commissioner of Police in Sokoto State, CP Hayatu Hassan Mustapha, on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga, at the Assembly Complex in Sokoto.
Speaking during the visit, the police commissioner said that having recently assumed office, it was important to meet with the leadership of the State Assembly to seek its support and cooperation in addressing the security challenges confronting the state.
CP Mustapha commended Speaker Bodinga for his courage and commitment to security, particularly for personally participating in patrol operations alongside security personnel in parts of his constituency. He appealed to the Assembly to continue supporting security agencies to effectively curb insecurity across the state.
In his response, Speaker Bodinga welcomed the commissioner and his delegation, describing the State Assembly as “the People’s House”.
The Speaker also praised Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto for establishing the Sokoto State Community Guard Corps and for providing logistics and other necessary support to security agencies operating in the state.
He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to complementing the state government’s efforts by enacting and supporting legislation aimed at restoring lasting peace and security across Sokoto State.
Speaker Bodinga assured the commissioner of the Assembly’s continued cooperation with the Nigeria Police Force in achieving a safer and more secure Sokoto.
The visit concluded with the presentation of an award of honour to the Speaker by CP Hayatu Hassan Mustapha in recognition of his contributions to security and public service.
