DSS Secures Death Sentence for Suspected Kidnapper Over Sokoto Killings

The Department of State Services DSS has secured a death sentence against Ibrahim Usman, popularly known as Dan Iyali, over his alleged involvement in the kidnapping and killing of three persons in Sokoto State in September 2023.

Usman was tried on a four count charge before the High Court of Justice of Sokoto State, sitting in the Sokoto Judicial Division, alongside other suspects who are currently at large.

The charges brought against him included criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, culpable homicide punishable with death, and voluntarily causing grievous hurt without provocation.

The prosecution told the court that Usman was involved in the abduction and subsequent killing of the three victims, an incident that occurred in Sokoto State in September 2023.

Following the conclusion of the trial, the court found Usman guilty and sentenced him to death.

The judgment followed prosecution evidence linking the defendant to the offences contained in the four count charge.
