President Tinubu Redeploys Abdul’aziz Abdul’aziz to SSA on Media and Public Enlightenment

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the redeployment of veteran journalist and presidential media aide, Mallam Abdul’aziz Abdul’aziz, from his previous position as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Print Media to Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Public Enlightenment.

Announcing the development, Abdul’aziz disclosed that he had earlier received his letter of redeployment, noting that the adjustment aligns his designation with his responsibilities within the Presidential Communication Team.

He described the appointment as both an honour and a vote of confidence in his contributions to the administration’s communication efforts.

“Earlier today I picked up the letter redesigning my appointment as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Public Enlightenment, which streamlined my job description with my designation, as approved by His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on April 23, 2026,” he stated.

Abdul’aziz expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him and pledged greater dedication to advancing the administration’s communication objectives.

“This is in many ways an honour and valued confidence vote on my humble contributions within the larger Presidential Communication Team and the National Communication Team. It is also a new challenge that calls for greater dedication and commitment,” he added.

He also acknowledged the support of his colleagues, friends, and partners in the media industry, describing their contributions as instrumental to his professional achievements.

Abdul’aziz was appointed Senior Special Assistant (Print Media) to President Tinubu in July 2023. Prior to joining the administration, he built an illustrious journalism career spanning print, broadcast, online, and social media platforms.

An award-winning journalist, Abdul’aziz previously served as Deputy General Editor of Daily Trust Newspapers and anchored a popular morning programme on Trust TV. Throughout his career, he held several editorial leadership positions, including Managing Editor, Editor, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, and served in Editorial Board of Daily Trust.

He also worked with PREMIUM TIMES as Associate Editor, served in various capacities at Blueprint Newspapers, LEADERSHIP Newspapers, New Nigerian Newspapers, and The Sentinel magazine.

Widely respected within media circles, Abdul’aziz is renowned for his professionalism, humility, and commitment to ethical journalism. A recipient of the prestigious Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism Award and several other honours, he has earned a reputation for excellence and integrity.

Observers believe his redeployment to the strategic role of SSA on Media and Public Enlightenment reflects the administration’s recognition of his vast experience, communication expertise, and longstanding contributions to the Nigerian media landscape.
