Zamfara APC Chieftain Defends Lawal’s Development Projects, Urges Party Unity
By Yusuf Gwandu
An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Zamfara State, Sani Mayanchi, has defended Governor Dauda Lawal’s focus on infrastructure and development projects, saying such investments are necessary to rebuild the state after years of insecurity.
Mayanchi, reacting to concerns reportedly raised by some party officials during an APC stakeholders’ meeting chaired by Governor Lawal, described calls for the administration to prioritise welfare packages over development projects as misplaced.
He said Zamfara had suffered severe setbacks as a result of prolonged insecurity, stressing that the governor’s development initiatives were part of efforts to restore the state’s infrastructure and lay the foundation for sustainable growth.
According to him, APC stakeholders should support and encourage the government rather than making statements that could discourage the governor or weaken the administration’s development agenda.
Mayanchi also dismissed concerns about divisions within the APC in Zamfara, maintaining that the party remained united and committed to advancing the interests of the state.
He noted that the party’s 2027 campaign Director-General, Abdulazeez Yari, and the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, had also contributed to the welfare of residents through various support programmes.
The APC chieftain urged party members to put aside differences and work collectively to strengthen unity, support peace-building efforts and accelerate the development of Zamfara State.
