Vice President Kashim Shettima, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Sokoto Deputy Governor, Idris Danchadi, and several other dignitaries on Thursday attended the funeral prayer of the late Sardaunan Sokoto, Sir Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji.

The funeral prayer, held at the Sultan Muhammadu Bello Jumu’at Mosque, Sokoto, attracted large gathering of government officials, traditional rulers, political leaders, religious scholars, family members, and sympathisers who came to pay their final respects to the late elder statesman.

Vice President Shettima led the Federal Government delegation, while the Sultan of Sokoto, alongside members of the Sokoto Sultanate Council, participated in the funeral rites in honour of the late Sardauna, whose contributions to public service and national development earned him widespread respect.

Also in attendance were Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Danchadi, serving and former public office holders, traditional title holders, and other eminent personalities from within and outside Sokoto State.

The late Sir Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, a distinguished statesman, renowned financial expert, and former senior public servant, held the prestigious traditional title of Sardaunan Sokoto. He was celebrated for his decades of dedicated service to Nigeria and the Sokoto Caliphate.

Prayers were offered for the repose of his soul, with mourners describing his death as a monumental loss to Sokoto State and the nation at large.
