NUPRC Raises Alarm Over Fake Recruitment Letters, Warns Nigerians Against Fraudsters
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has raised the alarm over the circulation of fake and AI-generated employment letters bearing the names of individuals purportedly offered jobs at the Commission.
The Commission, in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Head of Media and Corporate Communications, Eniola Akinkuotu, said it had received reports of unscrupulous individuals extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public under the guise of helping them secure employment with the NUPRC.
According to the Commission, the fraudulent activities have been reported to law enforcement agencies, with investigations currently awaited.
The NUPRC urged members of the public to exercise caution and verify employment-related information to avoid falling victim to recruitment scams.
The Commission categorically stated that there is currently no ongoing recruitment exercise at the NUPRC, warning the public against anyone demanding money in exchange for employment.
It added that whenever the Commission decides to recruit, the process will be conducted strictly in accordance with existing laws and government regulations.
The NUPRC urged members of the public to disregard any purported recruitment offer that does not originate through its official channels.
