NPTF Trains 112 Sokoto Police Officers for Post-Retirement Success
The Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) has trained 112 police officers in Sokoto State as part of efforts to prepare them for a smooth transition into life after active service.
The five-day pre-retirement programme, held from August 10 to 14, 2026, focused on entrepreneurship, financial independence and other skills needed by officers approaching retirement.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State Command, CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, commended the NPTF and the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for the initiative.
Shaffa described the programme as an important intervention towards improving the welfare of police personnel, urging the beneficiaries to put the knowledge and skills acquired into practice by establishing sustainable businesses after retirement.
The Commissioner also encouraged the participants to make proper use of the support provided to secure a better quality of life after their years of service.
As part of the programme, certificates of participation and cash tokens were presented to all 112 officers to support their post-service business plans.
Representing the Executive Secretary of the NPTF, Assistant Director Alhaji Rabiu Na’Allah expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for attending the event and urged the beneficiaries to use the cash support judiciously as seed capital for their entrepreneurial ventures.
Na’Allah further assured that the NPTF would continue to implement similar programmes in phases across the country.
The initiative is part of the NPTF’s broader commitment to police welfare and ongoing reforms aimed at ensuring that retiring officers are financially empowered and able to contribute meaningfully to the economy after leaving active service.
