ICPC Tracks N431.8m Intervention Projects Across Sokoto
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has commenced the tracking of 14 Federal Government intervention projects valued at about N431.8 million across Sokoto State.
The exercise is being conducted under the commission’s Phase 8B project-tracking programme to assess the implementation and impact of government-funded projects.
The ICPC team lead, Dickson Domfa-Napcwat, said the projects cut across health, education, agriculture, electrification and other special intervention areas.
He said the projects included the supply and installation of medical equipment for dental, radiology and cardiac services, provision of writing materials to selected schools, and construction and installation of solar-powered streetlights.
Other projects inspected included the rehabilitation and furnishing of a burnt hostel, provision of beds, supply of quality seeds to farmers, and cash grants for health and agricultural entrepreneurs.
According to him, the projects are located across Illela/Gwadabawa, Bodinga/Dange-Shuni/Tureta, Wurno/Rabah, Sokoto North/South and Kware/Wamakko federal constituencies, as well as Sabon Birni Local Government Area.
Domfa-Napcwat explained that the projects were awarded under the Federal Government’s 2023 intervention programmes and were expected to have been completed.
He said the monitoring exercise would establish the level of execution, value of work completed, identities of contractors, payment details and the current status of each project.
The team, he added, would also assess whether the projects had delivered the intended benefits and made meaningful impact on the communities they were designed to serve.
