How 15 Construction Workers Escape Building Collapse in Sokoto

Fifteen construction workers escaped unhurt after a two-storey building under construction collapsed on Wednesday in the Unguwar Rogo area along Bauchi Road in Sokoto metropolis.
The incident triggered an emergency response after a distress call was received at about 2:23 p.m,raising concerns that workers might have been trapped beneath the rubble.
Search and rescue teams from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA ) and other emergency responders immediately moved to the scene and conducted a thorough search of the collapsed structure.
After combing through the debris, officials confirmed that all the workers had safely evacuated the building before the collapse. No injuries or fatalities were recorded.
The rescue operation involved the Federal Fire Service, Sokoto State Fire Service, Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, the Nigeria Police Force, the Sokoto State Urban Planning and Development Authority, the State Association of Civil Engineers, and local residents.
The spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, DSP Ahmad Rufai, confirmed that the collapse did not result in any casualties.
Reacting to the incident, the owner of the building project, Alhaji Auwal Abubakar, described the collapse as unfortunate but expressed gratitude that all 15 workers escaped safely, preventing what could have been a major tragedy.
