The member representing Gada/Goronyo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Bashir Usman Gorau, has trained 100 women from his constituency in poultry farming as part of efforts to promote self-reliance and improve livelihoods.

The beneficiaries, who underwent training on poultry production techniques, were also provided with poultry birds, feed, poultry equipment and ₦100,000 each as start-up support to enable them to establish their own poultry businesses.

Speaking at the launch of the programme, Gorau represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, Dr. Mohammed Almustapha Gada, urged the participants to make effective use of the opportunity and support provided to them.

He said the initiative was designed to empower the women to become economically self-reliant and improve their standard of living.

“I urge you to make good use of this opportunity to become self-reliant and improve your livelihoods,” the lawmaker said.

Gorau also called on the beneficiaries to utilise the materials and financial support provided to them responsibly, stressing the importance of using the intervention to build sustainable sources of income.

He encouraged the women to remain committed to the poultry business and ensure that the support received translates into lasting economic benefits for themselves and their families.
