The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, wanted over an alleged case of receiving stolen property.
The commission announced this in a notice signed by its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, and published on its official social media platform on Wednesday.
According to the EFCC, Maina, 61, is wanted in connection with an ongoing investigation into an alleged financial crime.
“The public is hereby notified that Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of Receiving Stolen Properties,” the notice stated.
The anti-graft agency appealed to members of the public with information that could assist in locating Maina to contact any of its offices across the country.
The listed offices include those in Abuja, Lagos, Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Gombe and Port Harcourt.
The EFCC also provided a dedicated telephone line, 08093322644, and its official email address, info@efcc.gov.ng, for members of the public to provide relevant information. It further advised that information could be reported to the nearest police station or other security agencies.
Maina, an indigene of Biu in Borno State, has previously faced prosecution in Nigeria over alleged money laundering offences.
In 2020, he was extradited to Nigeria from Niger after being arrested in Niamey, following his declaration as wanted by an Abuja High Court after he jumped bail.
The latest EFCC notice places him under renewed search by the anti-corruption agency in connection with the alleged receiving of stolen property.
