The Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and Member representing Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency, Hon. Abdussamad Dasuki, has facilitated a proposed ₦650 million Earth Dam Project in Dogondaji, Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The project is aimed at boosting irrigation farming and promoting industrialisation through a “Farm-to-Industry” model that will connect increased agricultural production with agro-processing, value addition and other industrial activities.

According to a statement issued by his office on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the initiative is expected to create employment opportunities, strengthen the local economy and improve the livelihoods of residents in beneficiary communities.

To support the effective implementation of the project, Rep. Dasuki has constituted a seven-member Community Liaison Committee to work closely with the Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority (SRRBDA) on site identification, community engagement and other related matters.

The committee is chaired by Umar Faruk Ladan (Majikiran Dogondaji), with Engr. Abdullahi Ango, Alh. Bello Nuhu Dogondaji, Alh. Sani U. Dan Kusurwa, Arc. A. S. Mohammed and Prof. Mikailu Abubakar as members, while Aminu Aliyu Dogondaji will serve as Secretary.

The lawmaker charged the committee to ensure a transparent, inclusive and technically sound site-selection process in collaboration with SRRBDA, traditional leaders and other relevant stakeholders.

The proposed project is expected to benefit Dogondaji, Kwalkwato, Samma, Samma Gari, Danya, Maikade, Geza and other surrounding communities.

Rep. Dasuki said the project would improve water availability, expand irrigation farming and strengthen agricultural production, while promoting a robust farm-to-industry value chain through agro-processing and value addition.

He reaffirmed his commitment to attracting impactful and sustainable development projects that would create economic opportunities and improve the livelihoods of people across the Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency.
