Bauchi NDC Governorship Candidate, Ibrahim Kashim, Resigns from Party
The governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bauchi State, Barrister Ibrahim Muhammad Kashim, has resigned his membership of the party, effective October 16, 2026.
Kashim announced his decision in a statement titled “A Message to My Supporters and the Good People of Bauchi State,” which was circulated on social media.
However, he did not disclose his next political destination or reveal whether he would continue his governorship ambition under a different political party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Despite his resignation, the former candidate reaffirmed his commitment to the political struggle for the development of Bauchi State, insisting that his departure from the NDC would not end his political engagement.
He explained that the decision followed careful consideration, stressing that Bauchi State needed purposeful leadership, a stronger economy, expanded opportunities for youths and women, improved security, and a future where citizens could live with dignity and hope.
Kashim also assured his supporters that his political journey was far from over, maintaining that his commitment to the progress and development of the state remained firm.
“Our political journey is far from over, and our commitment to the rescue and development of Bauchi State remains unwavering,” he stated.
He further expressed his readiness to continue working with individuals and groups who shared his vision of building a peaceful, prosperous and economically vibrant Bauchi State.
The former governorship candidate urged his supporters to remain calm, united and steadfast as they await further direction on their political future.
He promised to communicate the next phase of their political journey at the appropriate time, emphasising that their mission extended beyond party affiliation.
“Our mission is bigger than any political party; it is about the future of our people and the destiny of our state and country,” he added.
Kashim’s resignation comes as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, raising questions about the future of the NDC’s governorship ticket in Bauchi State.
The party’s options regarding the vacant ticket will depend on the applicable electoral laws, relevant INEC guidelines and the timelines governing the nomination or replacement of candidates.
As of the time of filing this report, Kashim had not announced his next political move.
