Army GOC Visits Frontline Bases in Sokoto, Charges Troops to Sustain Anti-Terror Operations

The General Officer Commanding (GOC ) 8 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander, Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Paul Bengba Koughna, has visited frontline troops at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Sabon Birni and Takasaba Outpost in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The operational visit, undertaken on Thursday, July 23 was aimed at assessing the combat readiness of troops and reviewing security operations against the Lakurawa terrorist group, which has remained active in parts of the area.

Accompanied by the Commander, 8 Division Garrison, Brigadier General A.J. Mohammed, the GOC commended officers and soldiers for their resilience, discipline, and sacrifices in protecting lives and securing communities.

He urged the troops to remain focused, vigilant, and committed to sustaining the ongoing offensive against terrorists and other criminal elements operating in the North West.

During the visit, Major General Koughna also engaged with residents of the affected communities, assuring them of the military’s determination to restore lasting peace and security. He encouraged them to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible and timely intelligence to support military operations.
