Kurawa Outbreak: Sokoto Govt Says Patients Responding to Treatment

Patients affected by the suspected cerebrospinal meningitis outbreak in Kurawa village, Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, are responding positively to treatment, the state Commissioner for Health, Faruk Abubakar Wurno, has said.

Speaking with DailyTrust, Wurno said the Sokoto State Government had deployed health workers to the affected community, adding that medical teams were actively treating patients and taking necessary measures to contain the outbreak.

He also revealed that the Deputy Governor had earlier visited the area to assess the situation and interact with health officials as well as residents.”The deputy governor informed me this morning that there is significant progress” the commissioner said noting that ongoing interventions were beginning to produce encouraging results.

According to him, residents have been cooperating with health personnel and expressed satisfaction with the response efforts so far.
