Pantami’s Camp Breaks Silence Over Omission from INEC’s Gombe Candidates List
The camp of Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has appealed for calm among supporters following the omission of his name from the list of governorship candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for Gombe State.
In a press statement dated October 10, 2026, and signed by Professor Suleiman Mohammed Gombe, the camp described the development as a temporary challenge, expressing confidence that the issue would be resolved through the appropriate legal and administrative processes.
Pantami emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate following a fresh primary election conducted on September 29, 2026, pursuant to an order of the Federal High Court.
The statement said the omission had raised concerns among supporters of the PDP and the Pantamiyya Movement across Gombe State and beyond.
It, however, assured them that the candidate’s legal and liaison teams were already engaging relevant party organs and INEC to ensure compliance with the court order and rectify the situation within the period allowed by law.
“We wish to assure all our supporters to remain calm, steadfast, and hopeful. This is a temporary challenge and a normal part of the electoral process, not a final determination,” the statement said.
The camp also alleged that some individuals were working behind the scenes to frustrate what it described as responsible leadership in Gombe State, while urging supporters not to be distracted by the development.
It called on members of the PDP and the Pantamiyya Movement to sustain their mobilisation and remain committed to their shared goal of serving the people.
The statement further maintained that the PDP and the Pantamiyya Movement remained united and committed to the “rescue and emancipation” of the people of Gombe State.
Pantami’s camp expressed optimism that the matter would be resolved, attributing its hope to ongoing engagements with the relevant authorities and the grace of Allah.
