By Yusuf Gwandu
Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State is among the state governors selected to join the Federal Government delegation for a leadership exchange and learning visit to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The delegation, approved by President Bola Tinubu, will be led by Vice President Kashim Shettima and is expected to depart Nigeria on Tuesday.
This is contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau by the spokesman of the governor, Suleman Bala Idris
The Nigeria-Ethiopia leadership exchange is scheduled to take place from October 7th to 9th, 2026.
Other governors on the delegation include AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Alex Otti of Abia State, Bassey Otu of Cross River State, Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State, Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and Umar Namadi of Jigawa State.
The visit is aimed at strengthening sub-national action on nutrition and will build on commitments made by the Federal Government during the launch of the Nutrition 774 Initiative, known as N774, at the 148th National Economic Council meeting.
Ethiopia’s Seqota Declaration will serve as a key comparative model for the Nigerian delegation, particularly in translating political commitment into coordinated, financed and accountable nutrition programmes at the sub-national level.
The Seqota Declaration was launched in 2015 after the Ethiopian government committed to ending stunting among children under two by 2030.
The programme involves nine government ministries and operates through a 15-year roadmap divided into three phases — Innovation, Expansion and Scale-Up.
The initiative is designed to provide a multisectoral approach to tackling malnutrition through coordinated interventions in health, agriculture, education, water, finance and other critical sectors.
