The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has revoked the suspension of its State Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru, and reinstated him with immediate effect.

The decision was announced on Thursday by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Isah Abubakar Assalafi, at a press conference held at the APC State Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi.

Kana-Zuru was suspended by the Kebbi State Working Committee (SWC) on June 20, 2026, through Resolution No. KSWC/010/2026.

According to Assalafi, the SWC reviewed the circumstances and subsequent developments surrounding the suspension before resolving to reverse its earlier decision.

He said the resolution adopted at the SWC meeting on October 1, 2026, formally revoked the suspension and restored Kana-Zuru to the position.

“That the suspension of Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana from the office of State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kebbi State, pursuant to Resolution No. KSWC/010/2026 dated 20th June 2026, is hereby revoked with immediate effect,” the resolution stated.

Following the decision, Kana-Zuru is to immediately resume the full functions, powers, duties and responsibilities attached to the office of State Chairman.

The party also terminated the interim arrangement under which Alhaji Adamu Mudi Augie had been serving as Acting State Chairman.

“Accordingly, Alhaji Adamu Mudi Augie shall cease to act as Acting State Chairman and shall resume his substantive office as Deputy State Chairman,” Assalafi said.

He added that all official records, documents, correspondence, instruments and other affairs relating to the office of State Chairman should be handed over to Kana-Zuru forthwith.

The SWC further directed the State Secretary to communicate the resolution to relevant organs of the party, including the APC National Headquarters, for information, record and necessary action.

Assalafi said the decision took effect immediately upon its adoption by the State Working Committee.

He explained that the resolution was in line with the authority of the party’s duly constituted organs to review their decisions in accordance with the APC Constitution and established procedures.

The Kebbi APC consequently urged all party organs, officials, members and stakeholders to recognise and respect the resolution as Kana-Zuru resumes his constitutional responsibilities as State Chairman.

The resolution was adopted at the APC State Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi during the SWC meeting held on October 1, 2026.
