2027: Zamfara Will Rank Among Top Three States in Votes for Tinubu, Says Yari
By Yusuf Gwandu
The Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulazeez Yari Abubakar, says Zamfara State will be among the leading states in mobilising massive support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Yari stated this while briefing journalists in his hometown, Talata Mafara, shortly after a closed-door engagement with APC stakeholders from across the state.
He explained that the meeting was organised to brief critical stakeholders on their responsibility to support the Presidential Campaign Council and mobilise voters for the president’s re-election.
The former Zamfara governor said although his responsibility as Director-General would require him to work across the country, he considered it imperative to begin his mobilisation from Zamfara, which he described as his home base.
Yari said the state must strive to rank among the top three states with the highest number of votes for President Tinubu, regardless of the population or economic strength of other states.
“We are going to compete with Lagos and some big states in delivering Zamfara to the president. I am not saying we are going to have more votes than Lagos, but I assure you Zamfara will be among the top three states with the highest votes for President Tinubu,” Yari said.
He added, “This consultation is just the beginning. We will go to every part of the country. Sometimes I will go undercover to some areas to seek for votes.”
The APC chieftain said the consultation involved party working committees at the ward, local government, and state levels, as well as other critical stakeholders.
He urged the stakeholders to give the campaign council massive support, describing his appointment as an opportunity entrusted to him by God to contribute to the success of the party and the country.
Yari expressed confidence that the APC would win the 2027 presidential election, saying the party would mobilise support across the 36 states of the federation.
He said the campaign would be issue-based, focusing on the achievements of the Tinubu administration in the economy, security, and other sectors, rather than attacking political opponents.
On the administration’s economic reforms, the former governor acknowledged that some measures had caused hardship but maintained that they were necessary to reposition the Nigerian economy.
Yari said the government’s tax reforms were intended to ensure that people paid taxes according to their earnings, while businesses and producers received appropriate tax incentives to encourage investment and production.
He also expressed concern over the huge resources being committed to combating insecurity, which he said could have been channelled into infrastructure and economic development.
The Director-General further disclosed that the campaign council would continue to focus on issues affecting Nigerians, particularly security and economic development.
He expressed optimism that President Tinubu would overcome the country’s security challenges and create an environment where resources could increasingly be directed towards development and infrastructure.
The engagement brought together more than 3,000 APC members from the 14 local government areas of Zamfara State.
