52 Sokoto Youths Gain Automatic Employment as BUA Cement Graduates 60 Trainees

No fewer than 52 youths from communities hosting BUA Cement Plc in Sokoto State have been offered automatic employment by the company after completing a six month intensive training programme in heavy duty equipment operations.
The employment followed the graduation of 60 participants from BUA Cement’s host community skills acquisition programme, an initiative designed to equip young people with practical skills, improve employability and tackle unemployment.
Throughout the six-month training, each participant received a monthly stipend of N150,000 to support their learning.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Governor Ahmed Aliyu, represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, applauded BUA Cement for complementing government efforts in youth empowerment and economic development.
He said the private sector remains a key partner in addressing unemployment through investments in skills development and job creation, urging the beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity by demonstrating dedication and professionalism in their new roles.
The governor also reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating a conducive business environment that encourages private investment and expands employment opportunities for youths and women across the state.
Managing Director of BUA Cement Plc, Engr. Yusuf Haliru Binji, represented by the Assistant Director of Administration and Corporate Affairs, Alhaji Sada Suleiman, said the programme underscores the company’s commitment to empowering members of its host communities through practical vocational training.
He described the graduation as a milestone that would open new opportunities for the participants, stressing that technical skills remain essential for reducing poverty, promoting self-reliance and driving sustainable economic growth.
Also addressing the gathering, Chairman of Wamakko Local Government Area, Hon. Umar Mohammed Dundaye, commended BUA Cement for its sustained investment in community development, noting that the company’s interventions in education, human capital development and economic empowerment have continued to benefit residents of Wamakko and Sokoto State.
