Tambuwal Delivers ₦20m Support, NEMA Relief Materials to IDPs in Sokoto

Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has fulfilled his pledge to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by recent insecurity in Tureta and Bodinga Local Government Areas of Sokoto State, handing over ₦20 million in financial assistance alongside relief materials provided through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
The intervention follows a commitment made by the former Sokoto State governor during his sympathy visit to communities affected by bandit attacks, where he announced a donation of ₦10 million each to displaced families in Tureta and Bodinga.
Representing the senator at the distribution exercise, his Special Adviser on Constituency Matters, Hon. Aminu Bala Bodinga, presented the cash support and supervised the handover of relief materials in collaboration with officials of NEMA’s Sokoto Zonal Office.
Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Bodinga said the intervention underscores Senator Tambuwal’s commitment to standing by his constituents in times of hardship and ensuring that vulnerable families receive timely humanitarian assistance.
In Tureta Local Government Area, beneficiaries received 400 bags of 25kg rice, 400 bags of 25kg beans, 200 bags of 25kg maize, 400 blankets, 400 rubber mats, 40 cartons each of vegetable oil, tomato paste and seasoning cubes, as well as 40 bags of salt.
In Bodinga Local Government Area, the distributed items included 300 bags each of 25kg rice, maize and beans, 30 cartons of 5-litre vegetable oil, 30 cartons each of seasoning cubes and tomato paste, and 30 bags of iodised salt.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to Senator Tambuwal for redeeming his pledge and for complementing the Federal Government’s humanitarian intervention through NEMA. They also prayed for lasting peace, improved security and the safe return of displaced families to their communities.
Senator Tambuwal reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at easing the hardship faced by internally displaced persons and other vulnerable groups while continuing to advocate lasting solutions to the security challenges confronting communities across Sokoto State.
