Sokoto Hisbah Bans I-See-I-Love, Wazigidi, DJ Gatherings at Weddings

The Commander of the Sokoto State Hisbah, Malam Usman Jatau, has announced a ban on all I-See-I-Love, Wazigidi gatherings, DJ entertainment, and similar activities at wedding ceremonies across the state.
Speaking to journalists on Monday, Jatau said the board was aware of practices taking place in the state that it considered inappropriate and contrary to Islamic teachings.
He explained that the ban targets events where men and women gather together for dancing and entertainment without any purpose other than merrymaking. The board also prohibited women from sitting beside tricycle (Keke Napep drivers and banned the transportation of overloading of women together in the same tricycle.
According to him, such practices are inconsistent with the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) regarding marriage ceremonies.
Jatau urged parents of brides and grooms, as well as other family members, to fear Allah and conduct weddings in accordance with Islamic principles. He warned that the Hisbah Board would enforce the directive whenever complaints were received.
He also called on community leaders and district heads to support the enforcement of the directive, saying they have a responsibility to promote Islam and would be accountable before Allah for their stewardship.
The Hisbah chairman further advised musicians, DJs, and other entertainment providers to desist from organising or participating in such events, warning that anyone who violates the directive would face legal consequences.
He concluded by appealing to parents and newly married couples to avoid extravagance and showing off during wedding ceremonies.
