First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Pays Courtesy Visit to Sultan of Sokoto

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday paid a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar CFR, mni, at his palace in Sokoto.

She was accompanied by the Governor of Sokoto State, Dr Ahmad Aliyu, who said the visit was to pay respect to the revered traditional institution and seek the Sultan’s blessings.

Speaking during the visit, the First Lady said she came to pay homage to the Sultan and also express her appreciation for his presence at her recent coronation, where she was conferred with a traditional title.
She described the Sultan as a symbol of peace, a promoter of national unity, and a leader whose unwavering commitment to cohesion and harmony continues to inspire Nigerians.

Responding, the Sultan warmly welcomed the First Lady, describing her visit as a homecoming rather than that of a guest.

He recalled his longstanding cordial relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and commended the President’s commitment to infrastructure development, particularly the ongoing Illela-Badagry Highway and the Sokoto-Zaria Road projects.

According to the Sultan, the road projects will significantly improve transportation, boost trade and economic activities, and enhance development across Northern Nigeria, beyond Sokoto State.
