The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Kwara State House of Assembly, Afon Constituency, Hon. Salman Ridwan Dan Sokoto, has congratulated Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki on his installation as the new Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate, describing the appointment as a divine blessing for the emirate and Kwara State.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Dan Sokoto said the emergence of Sheikh Dasuki was timely, noting that his vast knowledge of Islam, exemplary character, and commitment to community service make him well suited for the revered religious position.

“On behalf of my family, my team, and the good people of Afon Constituency, I heartily congratulate His Eminence, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki, on this historic elevation,” he said.

According to him, the new Chief Imam’s wealth of experience as an Islamic scholar and preacher would provide the moral and spiritual leadership needed to foster peace, unity, and social harmony in the state.

“The Ilorin Emirate and Afon Constituency have been blessed with a new spiritual father whose wisdom, humility, and dedication to the Ummah are well known.

This appointment comes at a time when our society needs moral guidance, unity, and peace more than ever,” he stated.

Dan Sokoto prayed for Allah’s guidance, protection, and blessings upon the new Chief Imam, expressing confidence that his tenure would strengthen Islamic values and promote peaceful coexistence among residents of the emirate.

“I have no doubt that Baba Imam’s tenure will be marked by impactful teachings, community development, and stronger bonds between the government and the governed. Afon Constituency will continue to support and pray for his success,” he added.

The PDP chieftain also commended the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and the Council of Ulamah for what he described as a transparent and credible selection process that produced a leader of Sheikh Dasuki’s calibre.

He further prayed for the continued good health, wisdom, and prosperity of the Emir, while urging Muslims across Kwara State to support the new Chief Imam in the discharge of his religious responsibilities.

The installation of Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki as Chief Imam marks a significant development in the religious leadership of the Ilorin Emirate, one of the most influential Islamic centres in Northern Nigeria.
