Former Sokoto State Deputy Governor, and former Minister of Water Resources, Mukhtar Shehu Shagari, has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is deeply troubled by the persistent insecurity across the country and “hardly sleeps easy ” because of the situation.

Shagari made the remarks on Thursday during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show, where he emphasized that addressing insecurity should not be left to the Federal Government alone.

He argued that state governments, which receive security votes, should dedicate more resources toward supporting security efforts, including the establishment of state police.

According to him, Nigerians are increasingly worried about the safety of lives and property, making it imperative for all levels of government to work together in tackling the crisis.

“The President hardly sleeps easy because of the security situation. He is deeply concerned about the safety and security of Nigerians, but security cannot be the responsibility of the Federal Government alone” Shagari said.

He urged state governments to support the President, the military, and other security agencies to ensure citizens can travel freely, conduct their daily activities without fear, and sleep peacefully.
