PDP Adopts Abubakar Abdullahi as Consensus Governorship Candidate in Sokoto

The Sokoto State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has adopted Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The decision was announced in a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s Acting Publicity Secretary, Amb. Abdulkadir Umar Gidadawa, following consultations and a consensus meeting involving party elders, stakeholders and leaders from the three senatorial districts of the state.

According to the statement the exercise was conducted under the supervision of the state caretaker committee as part of efforts to promote unity and strengthen internal cohesion within the party ahead of the 2027 polls.

The PDP described Abdullahi as an experienced administrator and grassroots mobiliser with a proven record of public service and dedication to the development of Sokoto State.

The party said his emergence reflects its determination to present a candidate capable of uniting members, securing victory at the polls and providing effective leadership for the state.

It als commended other aspirants and stakeholders for prioritising party unity over personal ambitions, urging members across the state to intensify mobilisation efforts at at ward and local government levels.

Reaffirming its commitment to good governance, the PDP stated that it would continue to focus on addressing key challenges facing the state, including security, economic development and inclusive governance.
