Borno Bombings: Are We Returning to the Dark Days? -Sultan Raises Alarm

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has expressed serious concern over the renewed bomb attacks in Borno State, asking whether Nigeria is returning to the difficult period of intense insurgency.

Speaking after announcing the end of Ramadan and Eid-el-Fitr date, the Sultan strongly condemned the attacks and urged the military and security agencies to intensify efforts against terrorism. He stressed that redeployment of security chiefs should not be ceremonial but should involve taking the fight directly to terrorists in their hideouts.

As President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and Jama’atu Nasril Islam, he described the violence as un-Islamic and called on the government to show strong political will in protecting lives and property across the country.

GaskiyaCast reports that, the monarch and spiritual leader, also extended condolences to the government and people of Borno, the Kanem-Borno Emirate, and families of the victims, praying for peace, unity, and national stability.
