Gorau to Pay Salaries of Gada, Goronyo Workers Allegedly Denied Over ADC Support

The member representing Gada/Goronyo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Bashir Usman Gorau, has announced plans to verify reports that some civil servants in Sokoto State had their salaries withheld allegedly because of their support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Gorau condemned any action that denies civil servants their lawful salaries on the basis of their political opinions or affiliations, stressing that every citizen has the right to freely hold and express political views.

In a statement, the lawmaker said he would soon constitute a committee to investigate the alleged cases involving workers in Gada and Goronyo Local Government Areas.

He explained that, subject to the outcome of the verification exercise, he would make arrangements to pay the affected workers their salaries from now until May 29, 2027.

The lawmaker’s announcement comes amid allegations that some workers under Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs) in Sokoto State have been denied their September 2026 salaries over their alleged political support for the ADC.

Gorau reaffirmed the right of civil servants to political freedom, insisting that their lawful entitlements should not be withheld because of their political affiliations.
