No political group will be excluded from APC campaign council in Zamfara – Governor Lawal
By Yusuf Gwandu
Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has announced that the APC will form an inclusive campaign council comprising members from all political blocs in the state.
The governor made this known during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House in Gusau on Saturday.
Governor Lawal said he, Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council Abdulaziz Yari, as well as former governors, will meet in Abuja to constitute an all-inclusive campaign council for the state, stressing that no group will be excluded.
“The campaign council cannot accommodate everybody, but I assure you that every group will be represented. If your name appears, know that you are there to represent others. If your name doesn’t appear, that doesn’t mean you are not important.” Dauda Said.
The governor also dismissed claims that his administration has not provided enough welfare support to the people of the state.
He said the government had awarded contracts to several individuals who, in turn, were expected to support members of their communities.
“We have awarded contracts to so many people. The list is there. Where we got it wrong, we did not make it public. If you know you are not getting anything from this government, drop your position.” He stressed.
Governor Lawal also said billions of naira are being provided monthly to support youths, with hundreds benefiting from the initiative.
He added that his administration would review its welfare programmes and develop new measures to improve the lives of residents, following consultations with former governors and other political leaders in the state.
