The Wife of the Sokoto State Governor, Hajiya Fatima Ahmed Aliyu, has urged families affected by banditry in Tangaza and Binji Local Government Areas to give priority to the proper upbringing, education and moral development of their children despite the challenges caused by insecurity.

Hajiya Fatima made the appeal during a visit to the two local government areas, where she sympathised with victims of banditry and expressed solidarity with communities affected by the security situation.

She said the visit was intended to strengthen the bond between the government and affected communities, demonstrate concern for their welfare and encourage them to remain hopeful, patient and prayerful.

The First Lady emphasised that parents and community leaders have a major responsibility in shaping the future of children and youths through education, discipline, moral instruction and positive values.

According to her, providing children with proper guidance and access to knowledge would help them make responsible decisions, resist negative influences and contribute meaningfully to society.

She also urged residents to intensify prayers for an end to insecurity, stressing that divine intervention remained essential in restoring peace to the affected communities.

Hajiya Fatima assured the victims that the Sokoto State Government remained concerned about their plight and would continue to support efforts aimed at improving their welfare.

Representatives of the wives of the Tangaza and Binji Local Government Area chairmen, Hajiya Shafaatu Aliyu and Hajiya Amina Umar, respectively, expressed appreciation to the First Lady for visiting the affected communities.

They described the visit as a demonstration of the government’s concern for residents facing the consequences of insecurity and prayed for divine protection and the restoration of lasting peace.

The Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Hajiya Hadiza Ahmed Shagari, also commended the initiative, stressing the need for increased education and enlightenment among young people.

She urged parents and community leaders to take greater responsibility for raising children with sound moral values and ensuring that they have access to education.

Other speakers, including the APC Woman Leader, Hajiya Rabi Tudun Wada, prayed for the safety of residents and an end to insecurity in Sokoto State and Nigeria.

As part of the humanitarian intervention, beneficiaries in each of the two local government areas received 250 bags of rice, 200 pieces of atamfa, 50 cartons of spaghetti and ₦3 million in cash.

The assistance amounted to a total cash donation of ₦6 million across Tangaza and Binji, alongside the food items and clothing materials distributed to families affected by the attacks.
