Kebbi Varsity Appoints New Acting VC After Resignation of Predecessor

The Governing Council of the Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology (AFUSTA), Aliero, Kebbi State, has approved the appointment of Prof. Muhammad Gwani as the institution’s new Acting Vice-Chancellor.
The university’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Mustapha Mansur-Ango, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Birnin Kebbi.
Mansur-Ango said Prof. Gwani, who is the university’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), was recommended for the position by the Senate following the voluntary resignation of the former Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ismaila Arzika-Mungadi.
According to him, the Governing Council subsequently considered and ratified the Senate’s recommendation, with Prof. Gwani’s appointment taking effect from Monday, August 31, 2026.
He said the appointment was made in line with the university’s established procedures and was aimed at ensuring continuity in the administration of the institution.
The PRO added that the university community had welcomed the appointment and congratulated Prof. Gwani, while wishing him a successful, fruitful and hitch-free tenure.
